Greece permits Wizz Air, Ryanair to perform flights to Ukraine

The Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority has approved applications for low-cost airlines Wizz Air and Ryanair to perform flights to Ukraine, the website avianews.com has reported, with reference to Greek news portal metaforespress.gr.

In particular, Wizz Air was permitted to start flights on Airbus A320 planes with a frequency of up to two times a week on the Athens-Kyiv and Thessaloniki-Kyiv routes from March 31, 2019.

The Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority also agreed on Ryanair flights on the Athens-Kyiv route twice a week from April 2, 2019 on Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Greek airline Astra Airlines was allowed to conduct flights between Athens and Kyiv on BAe 146 aircraft twice a week from March 31, 2019.

Only Ryanair has currently launched the sale of tickets for flights to Kyiv. The air carrier announced the opening of the Kyiv-Athens route in November 2018.
