Contribution of Ukrainian GTS to Europe's energy security to be discussed at Brussels conference

An international high-level conference on contribution of Ukraine’s gas transportation system to the energy security of Europe will be held in Brussels on May 25.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman will take part in the conference, Ukrinform's correspondent in Brussels reported.

Vice President of the European Commission for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič and Deputy Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Adam Bielan will be among other participants of the conference.

"Due to the fact that the current transit contract between Naftogaz and Gazprom expires in 2019, the next months will become extremely important for resolving a question about the prospects for its continuation. The future of the Nord Stream-2 project, legal discussions in the EU regarding the regulation of gas pipelines for gas import, the results of arbitration between Naftogaz and Gazprom will also influence the share of the Ukrainian transit route and the situation of gas supply to the EU member states," the organizers of the conference informed.

The event was organized by the Delegation of Ukraine to the European Union, the Permanent Mission of Poland to the EU, the U.S. Mission to the EU, and the European Commission.
