Government approves Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035.

The document was represented by Vice Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion at a government meeting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Taking into account world trends, we have developed our state energy strategy. It is a program document that outlines the whole range of energy reforms in our country, from energy efficiency to effective resource management," Kistion said.

He added that the government aims to at least halve the energy consumption of the Ukrainian economy, increase the amount of alternative sources in the total balance until 2035 up to 25%, and improve the quality of energy supply to consumers. In addition, the Energy Strategy ensures the development of the natural gas sector that is based on de-monopolization and the creation of certain market relations.
