President Poroshenko: Ukraine’s GDP growth to reach 4% by 2020

Ukraine’s GDP growth this year is projected at 1.8%, while by 2020 this figure could reach 4%.

President Petro Poroshenko stated this in the Verkhovna Rada in his annual address on the internal and external situation of the country, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"According to the results of this year, [GDP] growth is projected at 1.8%. We expect economic growth to accelerate to 4% in 2020," the head of state said.

According to Poroshenko, Ukraine’s GDP has been growing six quarters in a row, following fourteen quarters of the fall.

In addition, Poroshenko recalled that last week Moody's upgraded Ukraine's credit rating.

The president said he is convinced that tough anti-crisis steps, macro-financial stabilization, reduction in the tax burden on business, deregulation, opening of new foreign markets and other measures contributed to this growth of the Ukrainian economy.
