With support from Norway, a training center for the Ukrainian forces has been opened in southeastern Poland, near the border with Ukraine. The facility will be able to simultaneously host training for 1,200 Ukrainian servicemen.

The opening ceremony of the training center (Camp Jomsborg) on Wednesday was attended by official representatives of Ukraine, Poland, Norway, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Sweden, and Iceland, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Polish Ministry of National Defense.

“The opening of the center demonstrates the ability to train Ukrainian soldiers in large numbers, in a good location — the Subcarpathian region near Ukraine — on a training ground that is truly beginning a second life. This training ground is gaining capabilities it has never had before,” said Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The Polish official thanked the Norwegian side for the swift implementation of the idea. He stressed the importance of allies using Ukraine’s battlefield experience.

“Next to us is a runway for launching drones. There is a space for studying the experience of the ongoing war in Ukraine, implementing the best solutions, and developing counter-drone capabilities, as well as the use of drones already in service with the Ukrainian army,” Kosiniak-Kamysz underlined.

The center is located at the Land Forces Training Center Dęba-Lipa. It was created under an international initiative of the Norwegian Armed Forces with Poland as the host country.
