Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Taran discussed the military-political component of the agenda of President Zelensky’s forthcoming visit to the United States with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs George Kent.

“During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the military-political component of the agenda of the forthcoming visit of the President of Ukraine to the United States, including the expansion of the bilateral and multilateral legal and contractual framework and some issues of military and technical cooperation,” the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine informs.

At the same time, in an interview with Ukraine 24 TV channel, George Kent clarified that he had arrived in Ukraine on a two-week visit to hold meetings.

“Usually people who hold a position like mine come here four times a year. This time I arrived for two weeks for the first time in a long period after COVID. And our chargé d'affaires is on vacation now. I will hold all the meetings that I could not hold because of the pandemic,” Kent said.

He also answered questions about preparations for President Zelensky’s visit to the United States.

“I think that President Zelensky’s visit will take place this summer. As President Biden said during a telephone conversation, it is very important that we deepen relations between our countries,” Kent said.
