Deputy head of President’s Office, Japanese ambassador discuss defense, military cooperation between countries

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Roman Mashovets and Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Takashi Kurai discussed ways of further development of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Japan in the defense and military-technical spheres.

During the meeting, particular attention was paid to the reform of Ukraine's defense industry and the development of Ukrainian legislation in this area, Ukrinform reports with reference to the president’s press service.

Mashovets noted the need to expand bilateral cooperation in the context of strengthening the defense capabilities of our country and receiving assistance from Japan.

He informed the interlocutor about the course of consideration of draft laws on reforming enterprises of the defense-industrial complex and making foreign investments in business entities in Ukraine.

For his part, Takashi Kurai reaffirmed the continued support for Ukraine in resisting the aggression of the Russian Federation and the interest in investing in Ukraine's defense industry.

The parties agreed to maintain an active dialogue on these issues and promote the further development of the Ukrainian-Japanese partnership.
