Enemy agent registering Starlink terminals for Russians detained in Odesa
In Odesa, the Security Service of Ukraine detained another agent of the Russian Federation who was registering Starlink satellite terminals for armed groups of the aggressor country.
According to Ukrinform, the SSU reported this.
“It has been established that the espionage mission was carried out by a local cargo handler recruited by the enemy. He came to the attention of Russian intelligence officers while looking for ‘easy money’ on Telegram channels,” the statement reads.
Promised “easy money,” the suspect first registered the Starlink devices in his own name and provided the relevant details to a handler in Russia.
Subsequently, the agent received instructions from him to recruit as many people as possible to carry out the illegal verification of the new terminals.
It has been documented that the suspect, under false pretenses, enlisted at least 12 of his acquaintances to register Starlink accounts.
SSU officers gradually documented the agent’s illegal activities and detained him at his place of residence.
Also, all satellite communication systems previously registered in his name were blocked.
During a search, mobile phones were seized from the detainee, which he had used to coordinate his subversive activities with the enemy.
Based on the evidence gathered, investigators from the Security Service notified the agent that he was suspected of violating Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed by a group of individuals acting in concert under martial law).
The suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
As reported by Ukrinform, a military officer absent without leave was detained in Kyiv for registering Starlink terminals for Russians.
