Murder of Territorial Recruitment Center serviceman in Lviv: Suspect is in custody

The Frankivsk District Court of Lviv has imposed pre-trial detention on the suspect in the murder of a Territorial Recruitment Center serviceman, ordering 60 days in custody without the right to get bail.

“The court imposed a preventive measure on the 30-year-old suspect in the form of detention without the right to bail for 60 days, until January 30, 2026,” the report states.

It is noted that the prosecution filed a motion requesting that the 30-year-old suspect be held in custody without the possibility of bail. The defense, in turn, sought 24-hour house arrest with a minimal bail amount.

Before the hearing began, the suspect shared his version of events with journalists. He claims that several “uniformed personnel” beat him and used a spray canister against him.

He also confirmed that the knife found at the scene belongs to him. When asked whether he stabbed the serviceman, the suspect replied: “Judging by everything, that is the case.”

As reported by Ukrinform, on December 3, a Territorial Recruitment Center serviceman was fatally wounded in Lviv.

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, during public notification activities related to mobilization and the verification of registration documents, a 30-year-old Lviv resident inflicted a knife wound on a serviceman. After this, he used a gas spray against the servicemen and fled the scene.

Operational Command West reported that the attacker stabbed serviceman Yurii Bondarenko in the groin area, damaging the aorta and causing massive internal bleeding. He also struck Senior Soldier Vasyl Maliuk in the head before fleeing.

Bondarenko was taken to a hospital, but despite medical efforts, he died from critical blood loss.

The slain serviceman was a combat veteran and participant in the Anti-Terrorist Operation.
