Case involving Russian deputy defense minister referred to court in Ukraine
The case against Aleksii Kryvoruchko, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, who is accused of waging a war of aggression against Ukraine, has been referred to court.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
“Prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General have completed the pretrial investigation and referred an indictment to court against Russian Deputy Minister of Defense Kryvoruchko, who is charged with waging an aggressive war under Part 2 of Article 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the statement reads.
Kryvoruchko was directly responsible for supplying the Russian army with weapons and military equipment used in the war against Ukraine.
While serving as Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation since 2018, he formulated and implemented the aggressor state’s military-technical policy, organized the fulfillment of the state defense order, and oversaw the supply of weapons to Russian troops.
Kryvoruchko signed government contracts for the production and supply of “Kinzhal” hypersonic missiles, “Iskander-M” missile systems, guided aerial bombs, as well as “Geran” and “Gerbera” drones.
He also oversaw the fulfillment of defense contracts and reported to the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Defense on the ramp-up of weapons production and supply for the Russian army.
In addition, the defendant initiated the creation of the “Rubicon” Center for Advanced Unmanned Technologies. Its units subsequently took direct part in combat operations against Ukraine.
The evidence gathered indicates that the weapons, whose supply was organized and supervised by the defendant, were used by Russian troops during missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian territory, particularly against civilian and critical infrastructure.
As a result of these attacks, Ukrainian citizens were killed and wounded, and residential buildings and critical infrastructure facilities were destroyed.
As part of the “main case” concerning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, 742 individuals have already been notified of their status as suspects. Of these, 293 individuals have been charged with the crime of aggression under Article 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—either separately or in conjunction with Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Indictments against 130 of these individuals have been filed in court, and six have already been convicted.
As reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine has identified and charged in absentia the commander of a reconnaissance platoon of the Russian Armed Forces’ 247th Airborne Assault Regiment with war crimes.
