ADF neutralizes 97 of 119 Russian drones overnight
Ukraine's air defense forces neutralized 97 drones launched by Russian troops in attacks that began on the evening of June 16. Enemy strikes were recorded at 11 locations.
According to Ukrinform, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this on Telegram.
The Air Force reported that from 18:00 on Tuesday, June 16, Russian forces launched 119 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types against Ukraine. These included Shahed attack drones, jet-powered variants, Gerbera and Italmas drones, as well as Parodiya decoy drones.
The launches were carried out from the directions of the Russian cities of Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, and Oryol, as well as from the area of occupied Chauda in Crimea.
The attack was countered by Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 08:00 on Wednesday, June 17, Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 97 Russian drones of various types in the north, south, and east of the country, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas UAVs.
Enemy strike drones hit targets at 11 locations, while debris from intercepted drones fell at six additional locations.
The Air Force emphasized that several Russian drones were still being tracked in Ukrainian airspace, indicating that the attack was ongoing.
As Ukrinform previously reported, Russian drones attacked Zaporizhzhia overnight, killing one person and injuring seven others.
