War update: 195 clashes on front lines, Ukrainian forces neutralize over 70 occupiers on Pokrovsk axis
A total of 195 combat clashes were recorded between Ukrainian forces and Russian invaders along the front line as of 22:00 on May 17, with the Pokrovsk and Huliaipole sectors remaining the hottest.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said this in its operational update published on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
"Since the beginning of this day, there have been 195 combat clashes in total. The enemy carried out 76 airstrikes and dropped 201 guided aerial bombs. In addition, it used 4,851 kamikaze drones and conducted 1,994 strikes on settlements and positions of our troops, the update said.
On the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk axes, there were four clashes. The enemy carried out two airstrikes, used three guided bombs, and conducted 71 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements, five of them using multiple launch rocket systems.
On the Southern Slobozhanshchyna axis, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions eight times near Vovchanski Khutory, Dvorichanske, Starytsia, Veterynarne and toward Ternova, Okhrimivka, and Kolodiazne. One engagement is still ongoing.
On the Kupiansk axis, Ukrainian defenders stopped one enemy assault in the direction of Petropavlivka.
On the Lyman axis, Ukrainian troops repelled seven enemy attempts to advance toward Lyman, Yampil, Drobysheve, and Zarichne.
On the Sloviansk axis, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled one enemy attempt to advance toward Rai-Oleksandrivka.
On the Kramatorsk axis, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions.
On the Kostiantynivka axis, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled 16 enemy assaults near Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Rusyn Yar, Toretske, Shakhove, Sofiivka, and toward Vilne. One combat engagement is still ongoing.
On the Pokrovsk axis, the enemy carried out 20 attacks, attempting to advance near Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Sukhetske, and toward Myrne and Serhiivka. Three engagements are still ongoing.
According to preliminary estimates, 58 occupiers were eliminated and 16 wounded in this sector today. Four vehicles and two enemy infantry shelters were destroyed. Three vehicles, one UAV control point, one artillery piece, and 98 personnel shelters were damaged. In addition, 170 UAVs of various types were destroyed or suppressed.
On the Oleksandrivka axis, no enemy offensive actions were recorded.
On the Huliaipole axis, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled 19 enemy attacks near Zlahoda, Varvarivka, Dobropillia, Olenokostiantynivka, and toward Nove Zaporizhzhia, Vozdvyzhivka, Staroukrainka, Zaliznychne, Huliaipilske, and Charivne.
On the Orikhiv axis, the enemy conducted two offensive actions near Bilohiria and Stepnohirsk.
On the Dnipro River axis, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions three times toward Antonivka.
On other axes, there were no significant changes in the situation, the General Staff said.
