War update: 200 clashes on front lines, Pokrovsk sector hottest
There were 200 combat clashes on the front over the past day, with Ukrainian forces repelling 30 enemy attacks on the Pokrovsk axis.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said this in a situation update as of 22:00 on May 8 published on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
"Since the beginning of this day, 200 combat clashes have occurred. The enemy carried out one missile strike, using one missile, and conducted 12 airstrikes, dropping 55 guided aerial bombs. In addition, it used 4,936 kamikaze drones and carried out 1,265 shelling attacks on settlements and Ukrainian positions," the report said.
According to the General Staff, on the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk axes, there were seven clashes. The enemy carried out 21 attacks on settlements and positions, including one using a multiple rocket launcher system.
On the Southern Slobozhanshchyna axis, the enemy launched 12 assaults near Prylipka, Vovchansk, Lyman, Starytsia, and toward Izbytske, Chaikivka, and Ternova.
On the Kupiansk axis, the enemy carried out one offensive action toward Radkivka.
On the Lyman axis, four assaults were launched toward Drobysheve, Zarichne, and Lyman.
On the Sloviansk axis, Ukrainian forces repelled two attempts to advance toward Rai-Oleksandrivka and Kalenyky.
On the Kramatorsk axis, one attack was carried out toward Tykhonivka.
On the Kostiantynivka axis, Ukrainian forces repelled 17 assaults near Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Pleshchiivka, Illinivka, Rusyn Yar, Novopavlivka, and Sofiivka. One engagement is still ongoing.
On the Pokrovsk axis, the enemy launched 30 attacks, attempting to advance near Novooleksandrivka, Bilytske, Muravka, Zatyshok, Ivanivka, Dorozhnie, Rodynske, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Novopidhorodne, and toward Serhiivka. Two engagements are still ongoing.
Preliminary estimates indicate that on this axis today, 39 occupiers were eliminated and 20 wounded. Ukrainian forces also destroyed a UAV control post, two guns, seven vehicles and two special equipment units, and damaged one artillery system, seven vehicles, one UAV control post, and 120 enemy shelters. A total of 196 drones of various types were destroyed or jammed.
On the Oleksandrivskyi axis, there were three enemy attempts to improve positions near Oleksandrohrad and Vorone.
On the Huliaipole axis, there were 13 enemy assaults near Dobropillia, Zlahoda, Zaliznychnе, Bahate, and toward Staroukrainka and Charivne.
On the Orikhiv axis, no offensive actions were recorded.
On the Dnipro River axis, Ukrainian defenders stopped three assaults toward the Antonivskyi Bridge.
No significant changes were reported on other axes.
