Electrical substation on fire in Krasnoperekopsk after drone attack, strike reported on military unit in Simferopol
In temporarily occupied Crimea, a large electrical substation caught fire overnight on May 8 following a drone attack. A fire was also reported on the grounds of the Brom chemical plant, and a Russian military unit in Simferopol was reportedly hit.
According to Ukrinform, the Telegram channel "Crimean Wind" stated this in an article.
"In Krasnoperekopsk, a large electrical substation is burning, according to the monitoring group of 'Crimean Wind,' citing satellite imagery data. The PS 220/35/10 kV 'Krasnoperekopsk' electrical substation is on fire," the report said.
A fire hotspot was also recorded on the territory of the Brom chemical plant.
The Telegram channel further reported that during the night there was a strike in the Maryine area of Simferopol, where Russian military unit No. 40136 — a communications hub of Russia's Black Sea Fleet — is stationed.
As Ukrinform previously reported, specialists from the "Prymary" special unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's Defense Ministry struck several Russian military facilities in occupied Crimea in April, including radar systems, electronic warfare systems, hangars, and an oil depot.
