Russian troops intensify attempts to advance toward Kupiansk from north, says Tregubov
Russian troops have intensified their attempts to advance toward Kupiansk, particularly from the north, in an effort to infiltrate the city.
According to a Ukrinform correspondent, Victor Tregubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Task Force, reported this on air.
"There is currently an attempt to advance through the village of Holubivka, north of the city, and an attempt to infiltrate through it. Unfortunately, the Russians have advanced a bit closer than they were before, so these attempts are quite active now, as the distance between Russian positions and the city of Kupiansk has decreased," Tregubov said.
He noted that due to the expansion of the greenery, the enemy has intensified such actions, but Ukrainian forces are repelling them.
Also, according to him, on the left bank of the Oskil River, the Russians are trying to reduce the Ukrainian foothold and advance toward Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi. The spokesperson emphasized that statements by the Russian leadership about the alleged capture of the city do not correspond to reality.
As reported, the number of people wishing to evacuate from the Kupiansk area has been increasing recently; over the past two days, nearly 200 people have been transported.
