Zelensky on Russia's night attack: Destruction in eight regions, dozens injured, including children
Russia attacked Ukraine at night with 420 drones, most of which were Shahed drones, as well as 39 missiles of various types. As of now, dozens of people are known to have been wounded, including children.
According to Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky reported this on Telegram.
“Last night, Russia once again waged war on critical infrastructure and ordinary residential buildings. 420 drones – most of them 'shaheds' – and 39 missiles of various types, including 11 ballistic ones, were fired at our people. Destruction has been recorded in eight regions, with many private homes and apartment buildings damaged. As of now, dozens of people are reported injured as a result of this attack, including children,” he stated.
Zelensky noted that the strike also targeted gas infrastructure in the Poltava region and power substations in the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. According to him, rescuers were working in the Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, and Kyiv regions, as well as in the capital.
“Most missiles launched today were successfully intercepted thanks to our partners swiftly sending part of the air defense missiles agreed upon at the recent Ramstein meeting. Unfortunately, there were also hits. And this means we must continue working even more actively. The cold has not yet fully receded, and air defense missiles are needed every single day while Russia continues its attempts to destroy our energy system. I thank everyone who understands this and helps us,” the president emphasized.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, in turn, noted that during the night, Ukraine was attacked by hundreds of Russian missiles, drones, and bombs targeting civilian infrastructure, energy facilities, and heat generation facilities.
“When the whole world demands Moscow to finally stop this senseless war, Putin bets on more terror, attacks, and aggression. Now is the time to respond with strength, not weakness. New decisions, including defense assistance packages and sanctions on Russia, are urgent,” Sybiha claimed.
He called it unacceptable that “certain blackmailers in the EU” are not only blocking decisions necessary for collective defense, but also threatening to stop the supply of some energy resources to Ukraine at a time when our country's energy system is under severe bombardment.
As reported by Ukrinform, Russia used the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea to launch ballistic weapons and hypersonic missiles during a night attack on Ukraine.
