Russian drone strike on ambulance in Sumy region kills police officer, paramedic
In the Znob-Novhorodske community of the Shostka district, Sumy region, police community officer Serhii Slavskyi and his wife Khrystyna, an emergency paramedic, were killed on February 21 while performing their duties.
The National Police of Ukraine announced this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
The couple was providing assistance to two men aged 17 and 25 who had been injured after detonating an unidentified explosive device.
After evacuating the wounded, they set off in an ambulance toward the district center. On the way, the vehicle was attacked by an enemy drone.
As a result of the strike, Serhii and Khrystyna, as well as the two injured men, were killed at the scene. The ambulance driver was hospitalized in serious condition.
Slavskyi was 32 years old. Since 2023, he had been serving in the border community, helping residents daily under the difficult conditions of wartime.
His wife Khrystyna, 25, worked as a medic, saving the lives of people affected by Russian aggression.
Working together with dedication despite constant danger, the couple supported each other while helping others.
"This is an irreparable loss for the entire police family, the community, parents, friends, and loved ones," the police said.
Earlier reports said that six people were killed and six others injured in Russian attacks on civilian vehicles in the Sumy region on February 21.
