Ukrainian forces deny encirclement of units in Rodynske
Reports claiming that Ukrainian Defense Forces units were encircled in the town of Rodynske in the Donetsk region are false.
This was reported on Facebook by the Operation Task Force East, as cited by Ukrinform.
The statement notes that Russian forces have intensified efforts to “envelop” Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad. To achieve this, they are increasing pressure in areas including Rodynske and Hryshyne. The situation remains challenging.
Ukrainian defenders are countering the enemy’s attempts by conducting enhanced aerial reconnaissance, additionally mining likely Russian advance routes, disrupting enemy logistics, and systematically carrying out search-and-strike operations. Drone units and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces are working actively. The enemy is suffering significant losses.
Despite the expanded target zones and constant drone activity, Ukrainian logistics remain complicated but are being maintained.
Attempts by Russian forces to advance near Riznykivka in the Sloviansk sector of the front using additional manpower ended in failure, with the invaders suffering substantial losses.
In the areas of Minkivka and Orikhovo-Vasylivka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed small infantry groups and isolated Russian troops attempting to infiltrate around Ukrainian positions. Those Russian servicemen who tried to create the illusion of control over these areas by displaying their country’s symbols on camera were either killed or captured.
Overall, as of the evening of February 20, within the area of responsibility of the Operation Task Force East, Ukrainian defenders repelled 25 enemy assaults.
As reported by Ukrinform, on Friday, February 20, Russian forces focused their greatest efforts on the Pokrovsk sector of the front.
