War update: 51 clashes on front line since morning, Pokrovsk sector remains most active

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this on Facebook in operational information as of 16:00 on Friday, February 20, Ukrinform reports.

Ukrainian forces continue to wear down the Russian army along the entire line of contact and in the rear.

Today, Russian forces shelled a number of settlements with mortars and artillery, including areas in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, two combat engagements took place.

"Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out active operations and achieved certain successes," the General Staff reported.

In these sectors, the Russian army dropped three guided aerial bombs and carried out 34 attacks on populated areas and defensive positions, including one strike using a multiple launch rocket system.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Russian troops attacked near Vovchanski Khutory but made no further attempts to advance.

In the Kupiansk sector, the invaders advanced toward Novoosynove.

In the Lyman sector, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions four times near Zarichne and toward Drobysheve and Lyman. Three clashes are ongoing.

In the Sloviansk sector, Russian troops attempted to advance near Yampil and toward Rai-Oleksandrivka. One engagement is ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the enemy has not launched offensive actions today.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, Russian forces carried out ten offensive actions near Pleshchiivka and Rusyn Yar, toward Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Berestok, and Novopavlivka. Three clashes are ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk sector, since the beginning of the day, the invaders have attempted 14 times to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, and Molodetske, toward Novooleksandrivka. Ukrainian forces have repelled 13 of these attacks.

In the Oleksandrivka sector, Russian troops attempted to advance near Stepove. Enemy aircraft struck Velykomykhailivka with guided bombs.

In the Huliaipole sector, Russian forces carried out ten attacks near Huliaipole and Zahirne, toward Olenokostiantynivka, Zaliznychne, and Sviatopetrivka. Five assaults are ongoing.

Russian aviation also struck Verkhnia Tersa, Zaliznychne, Hirske, Huliaipilske, and Charivne.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russian forces attacked twice near Stepove and Mali Shcherbaky.

In the Prydniprovske sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks aimed toward the Antonivskyi Bridge.

In other sectors of the front, the situation has not significantly changed, and no enemy advances have been recorded.

As previously reported, in the Lyman sector Ukrainian defenders captured two Russian soldiers who attempted to infiltrate Ukrainian positions.
