War update: 140 clashes on front line, Ukrainian forces eliminate 45 occupiers in Pokrovsk sector
On January 21, there were 140 combat clashes between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian invaders, with the hottest areas remaining the Pokrovsk and Huliaipole directions.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook, releasing an update on the situation as of 22:00, according to Ukrinform.
"In total, since the beginning of this day, there have been 140 combat clashes… Today, Russian forces carried out two missile and 49 air strikes, using two missiles and dropping 102 glide bombs. In addition, they deployed 4,455 kamikaze drones and conducted 2,864 attacks on positions of our troops and populated areas," the report said.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, since the start of the day, the enemy carried out 58 shellings of Ukrainian positions and settlements.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, the enemy attacked Ukrainian units seven times near Dvorichanske and in the direction of Izbytske, Hrafske, Kruhle, and Kutkivka.
In the Kupiansk sector, the aggressor conducted eight offensive actions toward the settlements of Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Kurylivka, and Bohuslavka.
In the Lyman sector, Russian invaders attacked Defense Forces positions six times in the areas of Novomykhailivka, Drobysheve, Yampil, and toward Lyman and Novoserhiivka.
In the Sloviansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy assaults, the occupiers attempted to advance in the Dronivka area.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian units repelled an enemy attack in the Stupochky area.
In the Kostiantynivka sector, Russian forces launched ten attacks on Ukrainian positions in the areas of Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, Sofiivka, and toward Kostiantynivka and Ivanopillia.
In the Pokrovsk sector, since the beginning of the day, occupiers tried 33 times to advance on Ukrainian positions. The enemy attacked the areas of Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Filiia, and toward Bilytske, Serhiivka, and Novopidhorodne. In four locations, fighting continues to this hour.
According to preliminary data, today 79 occupiers were neutralized in this direction, 45 of them irreversibly. In addition, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed an artillery system, eight vehicles, four ATVs, 58 drones, an electronic warfare system, and four enemy antennas. Our defenders also struck an artillery system, a radar station, seven vehicles, three UAV control points, and nine enemy personnel shelters.
In the Oleksandrivka sector, the occupiers attempted five times to break through our defenses in the areas of Zlahoda, Yehorivka, and toward Nove Zaporizhzhia. The settlements of Velykomykhailivka and Ternuvate were hit by guided bomb airstrikes.
In the Huliaipole sector, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions 31 times in the areas of Huliaipole, Solodke, and toward Dobropillia, Zelene, Pryluky, Varvarivka, and Sviatopetrivka, with two clashes still ongoing. Airstrikes with KAB bombs hit Verkhnia Tersa, Zaliznychne, and Vozdvyzhivka.
In the Orikhiv sector, no clashes have been recorded so far. Airstrikes hit the settlements of Yuliivka and Rozumivka.
In the Prydniprovske sector, the invaders tried twice unsuccessfully to improve their positions.
In the remaining sectors, no significant changes occurred, the General Staff summarized.
As Ukrinform reported, total combat losses of Russian troops from February 24, 2022, to January 21, 2026, in the war against Ukraine amount to approximately 1,229,740 personnel.
