Since beginning of winter, Russia carries out six large-scale missile and drone attacks on Ukraine – Syrskyi
During December 2025 and early January 2026, Russian occupiers carried out six massive missile and drone strikes on the territory of Ukraine.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated this during a conversation with the Commanding General of the U.S. Army in Europe and Africa and Commander of NATO Allied Land Command, General Christopher Donahue, Ukrinform reports, citing a Facebook post by Syrskyi.
"I briefed my American colleague on the situation along the frontline, which remains difficult," Syrskyi said.
According to him, despite significant losses in personnel, weapons, and military equipment, the Russian army is not abandoning its offensive operations. At the same time, the enemy is resorting to massive missile and air strikes on the rear, deliberately targeting energy facilities and using freezing temperatures as an additional tool of pressure and terror against Ukraine's civilian population.
Syrskyi reported that during December 2025 and early January 2026, the enemy carried out six massive missile-and-drone strikes on Ukraine. In particular, on the night of January 13, the Russian aggressor attacked Ukrainian energy facilities as well as other infrastructure and civilian targets with 25 missiles and 293 strike UAVs.
Syrskyi emphasized that since February 24, 2022, the number of missiles used by the Russian army has exceeded 13,300 units, while the number of strike drones has exceeded 142,300 units.
In this context, he noted that Ukraine's top priority is strengthening its air shield, including receiving air defense missile systems and ammunition, particularly those that can be provided by the American side.
During the phone call, Syrskyi also briefed the Commander of the U.S. Army in Europe on other critical needs of the Ukrainian army that can be met within the PURL initiative, and stressed that under current conditions, achieving a sustainable ceasefire in Ukraine is possible only if consolidated pressure on the enemy by Western partners is increased.
Syrskyi thanked General Donahue, the President, and the people of the United States for their support of Ukraine and their efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
As Ukrinform reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed that a document on security guarantees for Ukraine from the United States be finalized and submitted for consideration at the highest level.
