Prokudin on situation in Kherson: No signs of improvement

There are currently no signs of improvement, and the scale of the "red zone" in Kherson depends on the intensity of shelling from the left bank of the region.

Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, said this at a press conference, Ukrinform reports.

"As for the 'red zone' – we can all see how it is changing and how it is engulfing Kherson," Prokudin said.

According to him, he does not see any light at the end of the tunnel and does not expect the situation to improve or that the "red zone" will stop expanding – everything depends on the intensity of Russian attacks and the "contingent" firing at the city from the left bank.

He also described the situation in one of the most dangerous districts – Korabel (Ostriv). He stressed that drones are recorded there roughly every ten minutes. After numerous strikes on the bridge and critical infrastructure, there is no electricity, gas, or heating, and water is supplied on a schedule. Humanitarian aid is being delivered, but this is complicated – any vehicle becomes a target for the enemy. Bread, water, and humanitarian kits are being brought in.

Prokudin said that thanks to cooperation with partners, gas heaters have been delivered and will be provided to every family. However, the main problem now is refueling them.

The administration also worked with international partners to supply gas cookers and all the necessary equipment.

"Twenty gas canisters will be provided to each family at once, and then they will be replaced," Prokudin said.

Despite everything, around 200 people still live in Korabel, with no children remaining there. Residents have repeatedly been offered evacuation, but most firmly refuse to leave for safer areas. There is currently no mass return of residents to the district.

As reported, 307 civilians, including six children, were killed in the Kherson region in 2025 as a result of Russian shelling.
