War update: 255 frontline clashes, 72 attacks repelled in Pokrovsk sector
Since the start of the day, Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops have engaged in 255 combat clashes.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook, providing operational data as of 22:00 on Wednesday, January 7, according to Ukrinform.
“A total of 255 combat clashes have taken place since the start of the day. Ukrainian defenders are resolutely repelling enemy attempts to advance deeper into our territory. Today, Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 16 airstrikes, fired two rockets, and dropped 66 guided aerial bombs. In addition, they deployed 2,353 kamikaze drones and conducted 2,363 shellings of our positions and settlements,” the report states.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Ukrainian troops repelled three enemy assault actions. The enemy also shelled our positions and settlements 64 times, including two rocket artillery attacks.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, the enemy conducted 14 assaults on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Vovchanski Khutory, Vovchansk, Starytsia, Zelene, Tykhe, and toward Vilcha, Ternova, and Kutkivka. One clash is still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk sector, the aggressor attempted to breach Ukrainian defenses 12 times near Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane, Borivska Andriivka, and toward Nova Kruhliakivka and Kupiansk. Five clashes remain unresolved.
In the Lyman sector, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 15 times near Novoiehorivka, Novovodiane, Derylove, Kolodiazi, Zarichne, Myrne, and Shandryholove. Three clashes are ongoing.
In the Sloviansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled five assaults, with enemy forces attempting to advance near Siversk and toward Pazeno.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian forces repelled nine enemy attacks near Vasiukivka, Minkivka, Chasiv Yar, and toward Bondarne.
In the Kostiantynivka sector, Russian troops launched 19 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Kleban-Byk, Yablunivka, Rusyn Yar, and toward Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian forces attempted 72 assaults on Ukrainian positions near Shakhove, Nikanorivka, Fedorivka, Dorozhne, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Molodetske, and toward Novopavlivka and Filiia. Fighting continues in some areas.
Preliminary data indicate that 165 enemy troops were neutralized on this front, including 128 irreversibly. Ukrainian forces also destroyed two tanks, three armored combat vehicles, eight trucks, 39 UAVs, a UAV control point, and seven enemy personnel shelters.
In the Oleksandrivka sector, the enemy attempted 15 assaults on Ukrainian positions near Zelenyi Hai, Oleksandrohrad, Sichenve, Stepove, Vyshneve, Verbove, Krasnohirsk, Rybne, and Yehorivka.
In the Huliaipole sector, 37 combat clashes were recorded. Russian forces attempted to advance near Dobropillia, Solodke, Varvarivka, Zelene, Huliaipole, and Bilohiria. Eight clashes are ongoing.
In the Orikhiv sector, the enemy carried out four attacks toward Stepnohirsk and Prymorske.
In the Prydniprovske sector, the aggressor made two unsuccessful attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses near the Antonivskyi Bridge.
In other sectors, no significant changes were reported.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, Russian troops are attempting to accumulate resources in the Serebrianskyi Forest.
