Fedorov comments on situation in Huliaipole and Zaporizhzhia
Russian occupying forces have focused their attention on the Huliaipole and Kamianske directions of the front. The situation for Zaporizhzhia has become more complicated.
The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, stated this during a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Is there a threat to Zaporizhzhia? It has not ceased over almost four years of war. Let us be honest about this. Has the situation worsened over the past six months? Yes, it has become more complicated. Attention is focused on two directions of the front: Huliaipole and Stepnohirsk or Kamianske," he said.
Fedorov noted that the Defense Forces are improving their positions in the Kamianske sector every day.
"Every three days we see our positions improving, and this is the result of enormous painstaking work by the units serving there. Today, a decision was made on the forced evacuation from Kushuhum, and this indicates that it is not the front line that has shifted, but unfortunately the means used by the enemy have gained greater range, and the enemy has prioritized this direction," Fedorov explained.
As for the situation in Huliaipole, he said it is significantly more difficult. "Assault units fighting for Huliaipole are doing almost impossible work in coordination with UAV units. At least three assault units are responsible for Huliaipole. Today it is too early to speak about stabilizing the situation there; very fierce fighting continues," he said.
Earlier it was reported that the evacuation of children with their parents had been announced in the settlement of Kushuhum in the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 600 children must be evacuated by the end of January.
According to the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, nearly 40 combat engagements took place in one day in the Huliaipole sector, with fighting ongoing for every building.
