Ukrainian Defense Forces pull back from Siversk, retain fire control, General Staff reports
In the area of the town of Siversk, Russian invading forces, having a significant advantage in manpower and equipment, continue their offensive operations. In order to preserve the lives of personnel and the combat effectiveness of units, Ukrainian defenders have withdrawn from the settlement.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook.
“Heavy fighting continues near Siversk. Russian invaders have a significant advantage in manpower and equipment and, despite substantial losses, continue active offensive operations. In order to preserve the lives of our soldiers and the combat effectiveness of units, Ukrainian defenders withdrew from the settlement. During the fighting for Siversk, the Defense Forces of Ukraine wore down the enemy, and every meter of the town came at a high cost for the aggressor,” the statement said.
It is noted that the invaders were able to advance due to their significant numerical superiority and constant pressure by small assault groups in difficult weather conditions. The city remains under the fire control of Ukrainian forces. Invading troops inside the town are being struck, their logistics are being disrupted, and enemy units are being blocked to prevent further advance.
The press service also emphasized that Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue to carry out combat missions in the Sloviansk direction. All measures are being taken to reduce the offensive potential of enemy units and formations.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, a total of 67 combat engagements have been recorded along the entire front line since the beginning of the day, with Russian forces continuing to concentrate their main efforts on the Pokrovsk direction.
