Police officer killed in Russian airstrike on Izium

A police officer was killed as a result of an airstrike on Izium on December 20.

This was reported on Telegram by the Kharkiv Regional Police, according to Ukrinform.

“As a result of the shelling, a 47-year-old man and his 42-year-old wife, who was a police officer, were killed. A 64-year-old woman suffered an acute stress reaction and was provided with medical assistance,” the statement said.

It is noted that on December 20 at around 15:40., Russian forces struck the town of Izium with guided aerial bombs.

The attack damaged the grounds of a non-operational industrial facility, a café building, an apartment building, and civilian vehicles. A private residential house was completely destroyed.

Investigative and operational teams, explosives experts, and other specialized services are working at the scene. Police officers are conducting inspections, documenting the consequences of the attack, and collecting evidence.

Information on this incident has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, police added.

Earlier, Ukrinform reported that Russian forces had attacked Izium in Kharkiv region, killing two people and injuring a woman.
