Ukraine’s forces strike Russian warship, oil platform in Caspian Sea
Ukraine’s Defense Forces have struck a Russian military vessel and an offshore drilling platform in the Caspian Sea.
According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
The statement says that on the night of December 19, Ukraine’s Defense Forces successfully hit a Russian Project 22460 patrol ship, Okhotnik. The vessel was conducting patrol operations in the Caspian Sea near an oil and gas extraction platform. Several Ukrainian drones struck the ship. The extent of the damage and the vessel’s hull number are being clarified.
An offshore drilling platform at the Filanovsky oil and gas field in the Caspian Sea was also hit. The facility belongs to Lukoil. The platform is used for oil and gas production and is involved in supporting the Russian armed forces. Its further operational capacity and the scale of the damage are currently being assessed.
In addition, in order to reduce the enemy’s offensive capabilities, an RSP-6M2 radar system was recently struck near Krasnosilske in temporarily occupied Crimea. The RSP-6M2 system is designed to control aircraft movement, including enabling precise landings in poor visibility conditions.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has for the first time struck a Russian “shadow fleet” tanker in neutral waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
