Russians attempt to break through northwest of Pokrovsk – military

In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian forces show the greatest activity on the western outskirts of the city. In particular, the enemy is attempting to break through toward Hryshyne, northwest of Pokrovsk. Russians are also increasing pressure on the southeastern areas of Myrnohrad.

According to Ukrinform, the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this on Telegram.

"About the situation in Pokrovsk. The enemy shows the greatest activity on the western outskirts of the city. Using units of the 76th Air Assault Division, the enemy is attempting to break through toward Hryshyne, northwest of Pokrovsk. To do so, it intends to advance simultaneously along several directions. The Defense Forces are countering these attempts by cutting off likely routes of enemy movement and striking the enemy with available forces and means, in particular artillery and FPV drones," the statement says.

According to the military, the enemy is intensifying pressure on the southeastern districts of Myrnohrad. "Isolated cases of enemy infiltration are recorded on the outskirts of the 'upper' part of Myrnohrad. However, Ukrainian soldiers, including fighters of the 38th Separate Marine Brigade, detect and eliminate the enemy. The Defense Forces continue measures to stabilize and expand the logistics corridor to Myrnohrad. In the areas of Svitle and Rivne, isolated appearances of enemy groups are recorded and promptly destroyed," the military emphasizes.

It is noted that units of the Air Assault Forces grouping, assault units, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Navy, the Special Operations Forces, the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Guard, and the National Police are involved in the defensive operation in the Pokrovsk agglomeration.

"Over the past week, total enemy personnel losses amounted to 446 people. This is 30% more than in the previous period. The increase in losses is linked to the full-scale engagement of the operational reserve, namely three regiments of Russia's 76th Air Assault Division," the statement says.

The military also adds that an operation is underway to provide air cover for ground logistics routes on the approaches to the Pokrovsk agglomeration. "Thanks to coordinated actions, Ukrainian units destroy almost 100% of enemy aerial targets attempting to approach these routes," the 7th Rapid Response Corps said..

As reported, on December 13 the Operation Task Force "East" stated that in the northern part of Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, Ukrainian fighters managed to regain control of about 16 square kilometers of land over several weeks. In Myrnohrad, Ukrainian units are holding defensive lines and eliminating the enemy on the approaches to the city.
