Nighttime Russian strikes leave two regions without power; situation in Odesa region remains difficult — Ukrenergo

As a result of Russian attacks overnight on December 15, power outages have been reported among customers in the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions; the situation in the Odesa region remains difficult following the strike on December 13.

As reported by Ukrinform, this was stated by NPC Ukrenergo on its Facebook page.

“During the night, the enemy carried out drone strikes against energy facilities in several regions. As a result, as of this morning, there are de-energized consumers in the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Emergency repair and restoration works are ongoing in all regions affected by shelling,” the statement reads.

At the same time, the most challenging situation remains in the Odesa region, whose energy infrastructure was subjected to a massive Russian attack on the night of December 13. Power engineers are doing everything possible to restore the electricity supply to all users as quickly as possible.

Electricity consumption as of 9:30 a.m. on Monday is 7.1% higher than on the previous working day, December 13. This increase is attributed to a decrease in the scope of restriction measures in most regions and a drop in air temperatures across Ukraine.

“In regions where hourly outages are being applied today, there remains a need for energy-efficient consumption. Please limit the use of high-power electrical appliances as much as possible. If feasible, shift energy-intensive processes to nighttime hours after 11:00 p.m.,” the power system operator advises.
