Defense of Kupiansk is stable, Russians overestimate their capabilities and suffer losses – Tregubov
The situation in the Kupiansk area of Kharkiv region is more optimistic than in other sections, as Russian forces rushed their offensive, overestimated their own capabilities, and are suffering losses in urban districts.
This was reported in a television broadcast by Viktor Tregubov, the Head of the Communications Department of the Joint Forces Task Force, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“There [in Kupiansk] the situation is, on the contrary, more optimistic, because the Russians rushed significantly and greatly overestimated their strength,” Tregubov noted.
According to him, the enemy then attempted to adjust reality to fit its own statements, which only exacerbated the situation.
“In the northern districts of the city, the Russians are present, and there they are being eliminated by Ukrainian UAVs and countermeasures,” Tregubov stressed.
At the same time, he noted that the enemy is attempting to intensify pressure in other directions.
“The Russians are simultaneously trying to press on the western part of the city, and, secondly, attempting to bypass the city from the south and apply pressure in the Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi area, pushing Ukrainian forces from the left bank of the Oskil,” Tregubov underlined.
As reported by Ukrinform, 167 combat engagements took place over the past day between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops, with the enemy conducting its most intensive assaults in the Pokrovsk sector.
