Russia plans major war in Europe in 2029-2030 – Zelensky
Russia is increasing the production of military equipment, which indicates not only its unwillingness to end the war against Ukraine but also plans to launch a large-scale aggression on the European continent in 2029-2030.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
"We have to recognize that they want a big war and prepare to be ready in 2029 or 2030 – in this period of time – to begin such a big war. On the European continent. We look at this like a really big challenge," Zelensky said.
He noted that Russia currently has no intention of stopping its aggression against Ukraine.
"According to the situation on the battlefield, we don't see that Russia wants to stop. The problem is, looking at the defense military industry of Russia, we see that they increase their production. And our estimation is that they want to continue this war," he added.
In his view, joint pressure could force Russia to pause the war. He called on partners to consider how to stop the Russians now in Ukraine and to do everything possible to reduce their capabilities, "not to give them money, which they still can get from energy. And not to give them weapons."
As reported previously, the U.S. Treasury announced sanctions against major Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil, urging Moscow to immediately agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine.
President Zelensky stated that Russia's losses from these sanctions alone will amount to at least $50 billion over a year.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said on October 23 that the European Union had approved its 19th sanctions package against Russia for its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which is still ongoing.
