Enemy increasing use of heavy equipment on Pokrovsk front – Ukrainian military
Russian forces have begun to use more heavy equipment on the Pokrovsk front, where street fighting is ongoing in the city of Pokrovsk.
Captain Hryhorii Shapoval, spokesperson for the East Group of Forces, said this on Ukrainian television, Ukrinform reports.
"The East Group of Forces continues to carry out its combat duties within the designated zone, but currently almost a third of all engagements are taking place on the Pokrovsk axis. Over the past 24 hours, there have been 79 enemy assaults near the settlements of Nykanorivka, Panivka, Sukhynske, Rodynske, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Molodetske, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoukrainka, and Horikhove. The situation is quite difficult, with street fighting underway," Shapoval said.
He noted that whereas previously the enemy mostly advanced in small mobile groups, it has recently begun employing heavy equipment and larger assault forces.
"The enemy has now pulled in a significant number of available troops. We cannot specify which ones in the media, but the number of assaults and engagements has increased substantially compared to earlier," the spokesperson added.
Shapoval said that Ukrainian defenders had received substantial reinforcements, including assault groups and drone force units, which helps keep the situation difficult but under control.
