Ukrainian intelligence releases footage of key Russian commander killed in Zaporizhzhia region
Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) has released video footage showing the elimination of Russian Army officer Vasily Marzoyev in Vasylivka district of Zaporizhzhia region. He was the son of Lieutenant General Arkady Marzoyev, who was implicated in war crimes against civilians in Kherson.
Ukrinform reports this with reference to the video published by the DIU on Telegram.
On October 15, 2025, during aerial reconnaissance on the Zaporizhzhia axis, fighters from the consolidated UAV detachment of DIU’s Active Measures Department detected a drone operator position of Russian invading forces near the village of Plavni in Vasylivka district.
“Using the coordinates obtained by intelligence, a guided aerial bomb was successfully deployed to eliminate the Russian personnel. At the moment of the strike, the position was occupied by Russian Lieutenant Vasily Marzoyev, a platoon commander of the 108th Airborne Regiment of the 7th Air Assault Division of the Russian army,” the statement reads.
The released footage includes exclusive scenes of the strike that killed Marzoyev and other Russian servicemen.
The DIU noted that the eliminated officer was the son of Lieutenant General Arkady Marzoyev, commander of the 18th Combined Arms Army of Russia’s Southern Military District, who was involved in war crimes committed against civilians in Kherson.
As reported by Ukrinform earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine had documented crimes committed by five senior Russian military officers involved in large-scale shelling of the liberated areas of Kherson region, including Lieutenant General Arkady Marzoyev, commander of the 22nd Army Corps of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet coastal troops.
