In Brussels, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to discuss protecting Ukraine's energy sector from Russian attacks.

According to Ukrinform, Zelensky reported this on Telegram.

"We discussed how to protect our energy sector from Russian strikes and make it more resilient. Italy has the necessary expertise and equipment for that," Zelensky said.

He also added: "Separately, we focused on joint defense projects under the SAFE instrument. It is important that such initiatives benefit all of Europe."

The parties also raised the important issue of using frozen Russian assets. Zelensky emphasized that it is fair for these funds to be directed toward supporting and defending Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, in Brussels Zelensky also met with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo to discuss cooperation under the SAFE (Security Assistance for Europe) instrument for the procurement of long-range missiles, drones, and artillery ammunition.
