Fire breaks out in apartment building in Kyiv following drone attack, one person killed

A fire broke out in a high-rise building on the 8th and 9th floors in Kyiv's Dniprovskyi district as a result of a Russian drone attack, leaving one person dead.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"A fire broke out on the 8th and 9th floors of a high-rise building in the Dniprovskyi district following an enemy attack," the post said.

Tkachenko later updated the information:

"We have reports of one fatality as a result of the attack in the Dniprovskyi district," he wrote on Telegram.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko also reported on the consequences of the attack.

"The fire in the high-rise building in the Dniprovskyi district has been contained. All emergency services are working at the scene. Ten people were rescued. According to preliminary data, the body of one deceased person has been found," Klitschko wrote.

According to the mayor, emergency services also responded to an incident in the Darnytskyi district, where a non-residential building reportedly caught fire.
