War update: 44 clashes on frontline since morning, Pokrovsk sector remains hottest
Since the beginning of the day, 44 combat clashes have taken place between Ukraine’s Defense Forces and Russian troops, with the heaviest fighting occurring in the Pokrovsk sector, where 18 battles were recorded.
According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this in its update as of 16:00 on September 28.
Border settlements came under artillery fire from Russian territory, including Halahanivka in Chernihiv region, Rudenka, Novovasylivka, Studenok, Sosnivka, Starykove, and Bila Bereza in Sumy region.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Ukrainian forces repelled three enemy attacks. Russian aviation carried out three airstrikes, using six guided aerial bombs, and carried out 71 shelling attacks, including six barrages from multiple rocket launchers.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled two attacks near Vovchansk and Ambarne; one battle is still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk sector, no offensive actions were recorded.
In the Lyman sector, the Russians attacked three times near Kolodiazi, Torske, and toward Stavky.
In the Siversk sector, four enemy advances were repelled near Fedorivka, Serebrianka, Yampil, and Dronivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, one assault toward Predtechyne was repelled.
In the Toretsk sector, Russian forces attempted five attacks near Shcherbynivka, Stepanivka, Pleshchiivka, Poltavka, and Rusyn Yar; two clashes are ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk sector, the Russians launched 18 assaults near Chervonyi Lyman, Lysivka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and toward Myrnohrad, Rodynske, and Balahan. One battle is still ongoing.
In the Novopavlivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled three attacks near Ternove and toward Andriivka-Klevtsove; one battle continues.
In the Huliaipole sector, two enemy assaults are ongoing near Poltavka. Russian aviation also struck Zaliznychne and Novoselivka.
In the Orikhiv sector, no offensive actions were recorded.
In the Prydniprovske sector, the Russians attempted two unsuccessful assaults near Olhivka and suffered losses.
As reported, the total estimated losses of Russian forces in Ukraine from February 24, 2022, to September 28, 2025, amount to about 1,108,510 personnel, including 1,110 over the past day.
