Ukraine downs 89 of 113 Russian drones in overnight attack

Ukraine’s air defense forces destroyed 89 of 113 drones used by Russia in its latest large-scale attack on Ukraine starting in the evening of September 15.

According to Ukrinform, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Telegram.

From 20:00 on Monday, September 15, Russia launched 113 strike drones of Shahed, Gerbera, and other types from the directions of Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. Around 70 of them were Shahed-type drones.

The aerial assault was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and drone units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

As of 9:00 on Tuesday, September 16, Ukraine’s air defense had shot down or suppressed 89 drones across northern, southern, eastern, and central Ukraine.

Twenty-two strike drones hit six locations, while debris from downed drones fell at two more sites. Two enemy drones remained airborne at the time of the update.

In addition, around midnight Russian forces struck Zaporizhzhia with 10 rockets fired from multiple launch rocket systems (preliminarily Tornado-S), causing casualties and fatalities.

As reported by Ukrinform, in the village of Velykyi Burluk, Kupiansk district, Kharkiv region, a fire broke out at an agricultural enterprise on the night of September 16 following a strike by a Russian drone.
