Russian forces attempt to infiltrate Pokrovsk from two directions – military spox
Russian occupying forces are attempting to infiltrate the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region from the south and southwest, advancing in small groups through the settlements of Zvirove and Pershe Travnia.
This was stated by Oleksii Bielskyi, spokesperson for the Dnipro operational and strategic group of troops, in an exclusive comment to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“The enemy is trying to infiltrate Pokrovsk from the south and southwest via the settlements of Zvirove and Pershe Travnia, mostly in pairs,” Bielskyi noted.
According to the spokesperson, all enemy attempts to enter Pokrovsk will be met with a response.
“I know which units—what incredible Cossacks—are waiting for them (the Russians) in Pokrovsk. I can only pity the occupiers who manage to sneak into the city. The only ones who will survive are those who surrender. The rest will be swiftly found and eliminated,” Bielskyi assured.
He also emphasized that Russian forces are significantly increasing pressure on the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad agglomeration, hoping to capture it this autumn. Over the past 24 hours, the enemy launched assaults along nearly the entire defensive line of the agglomeration—simultaneously on 15 fronts.
“The invaders are actively searching for weak spots in the defense of the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad agglomeration. But not only are they failing to break through—they’re suffering from our attacks, which are unexpected, creative, and effective,” the spokesperson said.
At the same time, Bielskyi reported that over the past two days, Russian forces have begun shelling from the Pokrovsk direction toward Novopavlivka.
“This settlement is also a key target for the occupiers, but they’ve been unable to capture it for many months,” he stressed.
The spokesperson also reminded that 195 combat engagements with the enemy were recorded over the past day, with one-third occurring in the Pokrovsk sector.
“There was a record number of attacks (in the Pokrovsk sector – ed.) since the start of the assault operations toward Pokrovsk (which began last December – ed.)—64 attacks!” Bielskyi noted.
As reported by Ukrinform, 195 combat clashes between Ukraine’s Defense Forces and Russian invaders were recorded on the front lines on September 8.
