UK Defense Secretary calls on Europe to increase support for Ukraine

UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps has called on Europe to provide more financial support to Ukraine.

That’s according to The Guardian, Ukrinform reports.

Shapps has said that Europe needs to “step up” and provide more funding for Ukraine.

“Britain has, again, as with all of those other things, led the way with a £2.5bn package and a security agreement, a cooperation agreement with president Zelenskiy and Ukraine,” the official said.

“Now … not just the US, but Europe needs to step up and do their part to make sure that Ukraine can continue to defend herself,” Shapps added.

In a post on the social platform X, he said that the UK uplifted support to Ukraine to record levels. “In doing so we dashed the hopes of tyrants like Putin, who naively believed we could be distracted by multiple crises,” he posted.

As Ukrinform reported, UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps earlier said that the world had turned its back on Russia, forcing Putin into the humiliation of going cap in hand to North Korea to keep his illegal invasion going.
