Pistorius: Ukraine will get dozens of Leopard 1 tanks in coming weeks

Ukraine will get dozens of Leopard 1 tanks from Germany and Denmark "in the coming weeks."

"In the coming weeks, dozens of Leopard 1 A5 battle tanks provided by Germany and Denmark will be delivered to Ukraine," German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius told Rzeczpospolita media outlet in an interview.

He noted that the German government approved in May a new EUR 2.7 billion security assistance package for Ukraine, which provides for Ukraine's immediate needs in armaments, in particular, IRIS-T SLM air defense systems.

As reported, acting Minister of Defense of Denmark Troels Lund Poulsen said in May that Germany and Denmark would soon hand over 80 Leopard 1 A5 tanks to Ukraine.
