Italy looking into possibility of training Ukrainian war pilots - Meloni

Italy, together with its allies, is considering the possibility of training Ukrainian air force pilots on Western-type warplanes.

This was announced at a press conference by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who took part in the G7 summit in Japan, Ukrinform reports.

"This is a decision that we’ve not yet made and that we are evaluating together with our allies," she said, commenting on the possibility of training Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets.

At the same time, Meloni noted that Italy does not have F-16 fighter jets in service so her government would not be able to supply them to Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with Giorgia Meloni as part of a working visit to Japan, where the Group of Seven summit is taking place.
