Rasmussen: We have to make sure that Ukraine wins war

The founder of the "Alliance of Democracies" Foundation, former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that Ukraine should win the war, because Russia's appropriation of territories will create a dangerous precedent that China can take advantage of.

He said this while opening the Copenhagen Democracy Summit, reports the correspondent of Ukrinform.

"Let's send a loud and clear signal from this summit. Freedom will win, because there is freedom. Despite the  cruelty of the autocrats, the despotism of the dictators, the totalitarianism of the tyrants, we still see hope. We see hope in the heroism of the Ukrainian people. This is a fight for the future of your country. Ukraine is a question for the entire democratic world. If Russia is able to gain territory and establish a new status quo by force, it will set a dangerous precedent. Xi Jinping will conclude that he can simply take over Taiwan. Only a clear show of determination deters despots. That is why we must ensure that Ukraine wins the war and ensures a lasting peace," he said.
