Ukraine hopes Germany will support 'fighter jet coalition' - Zelensky

Ukraine is working on the creation of a "fighter jet coalition" and is counting on Germany's support in this matter.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this at a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin on Sunday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"We are currently working on the creation of a fighter jet coalition, and my visits to European capitals are partly aimed at this. I think we will have success," he said.

Zelensky noted that he would discuss the topic of supplying fighter jets to Ukraine with Chancellor Scholz and would turn to the German side for support.

He said it was not even about superiority over Russian warplanes. Ukraine's task is to "be powerful" in the airspace, he added.

Zelensky is visiting Germany on May 14. He also visited Italy on May 13.
