Russians turn part of Bakhmut into Syria’s Aleppo - deputy defense minister

As a result of Russia’s scorched earth tactics, part of Bakhmut, a town in Donetsk region holding defense for months, has turned into a kind of Syria’s Aleppo, which was also destroyed by massive bombing.

That’s according to Deputy Minister of Defense, Hanna Maliar, who spoke on the air of the national telethon, Ukrinform reports.

"The enemy is amassing not only their regular troops there – the Wagner private army, which has already been largely decimated by the armed forces of Ukraine, is deployed there, too. The enemy does not abandon its goal, which is to capture Bakhmut. Today, fierce battles are raging there. The enemy is seriously employing artillery and aviation there. They turned part of the city districts into Aleppo. They use tactics of complete destruction, obliterating buildings and positions," she said.

In addition, according to the official, had the Ukrainian defenders not defended Bakhmut, the invaders would have advanced deeper into the territory of Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukrainian border guards repelled another assault attempt by Russian invaders on the town of Bakhmut in Donetsk region.
