There is no oppression of Hungarians in Ukraine's Zakarpattia region, with the state taking care of representatives of all national communities in the region.

Viktor Mykyta, head of the regional military administration, said this in a post on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"During a working visit by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Parliamentary State Secretary Levente Magyar to Zakarpattia region, the issue of national communities, which is constantly speculated by the terrorist state and 'third pro-Russian forces,' was separately raised. There is no oppression, the state takes care of representatives of all ethnic communities living in Transcarpathia. They are represented at all levels and have full support from local authorities. This was publicly emphasized by representatives of the Hungarian community," Mykyta said.

According to him, the Romanian community of the Zakarpattia region holds the same position.

The official said that representatives of the Hungarian community are now defending the independence of Ukraine from the Russian occupiers at the hottest points of the front, fulfilling their constitutional duty since the first days of the Russian invasion in 2014.

"Everything else is manipulation and provocation aimed at destabilizing the social situation in the region and attempts to block Ukraine's European integration," Mykyta said.
