The second group of Ukrainian artillerymen is completing the training session to master the 155-mm AS90 self-propelled artillery weapon on British soil.

That’s according to the First Deputy Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavliuk, who delivered the news via Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

According to Pavliuk, more than 1,000 British servicemen are involved in the program, run at the facilities of the British Ministry of Defense in the north-west, south-west, and south-east of Great Britain.

"AS90 training is taking place in a specialized facility under the control of the Royal School of Artillery, being conducted by officers and soldiers from the Royal Artillery Regiment," Pavliuk said.

The AS90 is a flexible, high-precision, advanced artillery system that provides armored protection to its crew while allowing them to engage targets at long range.

The UK became the first country to donate western-made main battle tanks to Ukraine, sending a squadron of Challenger 2 tanks along with armored recovery and repair vehicles, as well as a battery of eight AS90 guns on "high readiness" and two more batteries on "various levels of readiness".

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are grateful to Great Britain for their support and assistance, Pavliuk said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukraine’s recruits undergo training in Britain to master the Challenger main battle tanks.
