Eurojust to support International Center for Prosecution of Crime of Aggression against Ukraine

The International Center for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine will be based at Eurojust's headquarters in The Hague. The Center will provide all necessary support to international experts, prosecutors, and investigators.

"Eurojust from the very beginning has been supporting the international efforts to collect evidence of all major international crimes [committed by Russian troops in Ukraine], and now we will step up our efforts also in the area of the crime of aggression. As you know, we will host the International Center for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression and we will make sure that our international partners have the necessary support, legal expertise, analytical capacity, and all financial and logistical means," President of Eurojust Ladislav Hamran told journalists at the United for Justice conference in Lviv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to Hamran, the European Commission will provide Eurojust with financial support to ensure the Center's activities.

"We offer our premises to the international partners to send their experts, prosecutors, and investigators so that they can closely cooperate and more effectively discuss prosecution strategies and available evidence," said the Eurojust President.

The issue of American specialists’ involvement is under consideration, he added.

According to Hamran, other details of the Center's activity will be announced at a separate briefing later.

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin said at the conference that the International Center for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression in The Hague would start working this summer.
