No Russian strike group observed at borders - Sumy mayor

Mayor Oleksandr Lysenko of Sumy issued a statement on the likelihood of another Russian invasion of the region, saying no strike group is currently being observed on the borders.

Lysenko made the statement via Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

According to the mayor, after reports made at the national telethon if a possible Russian attack on Sumy, he received multiple calls inquiring about the security situation in the area.

"The situation at the border is tense, but fully under control. There is currently no threat of invasion. I ask the people of Sumy not to panic," he said.

In case there are certain updates from the military, the mayor vowed a timely warning to citizens.

As Ukrinform reported, at the outset of the large-scale Russian invasion in February 2022, Sumy was partially captured by Russian troops. The Armed Forces liberated the region in early April 2022.
