Minister Reznikov: Ukraine hopes to receive fighter jets from allies

Ukraine is holding talks with its allies to receive fighter jets and long-range missiles in order to destroy Russian rear depots and command centers.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov in an interview with CBC, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In particular, Reznikov said he had written a “wish list to Santa” and that on the list “remains jet fighters, fighter jets, aircraft and probably rockets ... long-hand options to hit the Russians’ fuel depots, ammunition depots and their commanders.”

According to Reznikov, the modern tanks provided by Canada and other international partners can be a game changer on the battlefield, just as the HIMARS systems were last summer. Later, fighter jets will also become a game changer.

“Next one or two weeks will be the weeks of discussions. We need to deliver real argument and understanding how we’ll use them and why we need them,” Reznikov commented on the possibility of receiving fighter jets from the allies, adding that he is rather optimistic in this regard.

In an interview, Reznikov also expressed hope that this year will be the year of victory for Ukraine.

“Our goal is to liberate all our temporarily occupied territories, but we will see how soon it will be,” Reznikov concluded.

A reminder that Germany and the United States announced plans to send main battle tanks to Ukraine and allowed other countries to export tanks as well.
