Rheinmetall ready to provide Ukraine with shells for Leopard tanks

Germany's defense company Rheinmetall can provide a large amount of ammunition for modern Leopard 2 battle tanks, which Germany and other countries will send to Ukraine.

That's according to DW, Ukrinform reports.

"Rheinmetall is ready for this and has significantly increased in advance its capacity for the production of ammunition, especially large-caliber ammunition," the company said in response to a request from the Rheinische Post newspaper.

Rheinmetall also said it had invested and continues to invest heavily in increasing the number of employees and creating new production facilities, likely referring to the construction of a new munitions plant. "We are doing everything to support Ukraine, as well as NATO and the federal government, including with the necessary ammunition," the company said.

According to the report, the increase in capacity will allow the company to meet the ammunition needs of both the Bundeswehr and the defense forces of other countries that have Leopard 2 tanks.
